Learning Chinese experiences and the role of bamboo in sustainable rural

Many participants noted that they did not only learnt the processing technologies of bamboo, but
also reasons for the fast development of the Chinese bamboo industry: favorable policies, perfect
technology extension system, research on new technologies and exploration of new products, as
well as multi-participated NGOs (government, scientists and technicians, enterprises and farmers),
the well-developed supply chain - from raw processing by farmers to finalization in factories and
marketing with government and NGO supports.  During the workshop, the participants had the
opportunity to study and see with their own eyes the facts that farmers getting rich, the sustainable
development, industrialization and urbanization of rural areas where bamboo plays a major role.
These experiences impressed them deeply on the significance of bamboo-based rural development,
and strengthened their confidences in development with bamboo in their own countries.
